| Choose XML or MIME as the content scheme. | |
| I think I've read most of the pertinent docs on this wesbite. I was wondering why XML was chosen as the content scheme, but then SMTP (and MIME by association) was embraced as a relay scheme? One or the other makes sense to me. If you're embracing MIME for "content in motion", then fine, you have compatibility with the legacy internet relaying scheme. But why introduce XML as a second content scheme? Is XML intended for storage, then MIME for encapsulating that content while in motion? That negates the point alluded to about a single representation scheme. Just a fundamental gap between the PDF and the implementation, which probably requires some justification or explanation. Why not just define MIME as the content scheme, which encompasses XML documents? | |
